Birch 0.6 BETA Released - 05 August 2010: Now with multiple-server support

Welcome to the BIRCH homepage. The home-page may not look much, but that's mostly because it's simply thrown together to aid with the distrobution of Birch. Over time, it will improve, as I put more effort into it.

BIRCH is a labour of Love written in Java. It has been written over 10 years, on and off, and has slowly clawed it's way up to being BETA. That means that it works, and doesn't have any major functional bugs, but still lacks some features that would make it a full release program. This may because the programmer is a bit of a perfectionist, and so expects BIRCH, upon release, to do everything he want in an IRC client.

If you want something added to the IRC client, well, users drive development. Simply find BlackXanthus on irc.dal.net and tell him what you want. He'll do it as fast as possible.

Installation

Download the Zip file, and extract into a directory. In there there is a Birch-X.X.jar file. Double-click this file and Birch should start. If it doesn't make sure that the Java JRE is installed properly on your system. You will need at least version 1.6.
